Press Releases

Australia and New Zealand have published an updated version of their standard AS/NZS 4442:2018. The standard covers:

  • Office desks
  • Office workstations
  • Tables intended for us as office desks
  • Sit-stand desks

The 2018 version of the standard supersedes the 1997 version, which covered desk and workstations. The main differences between the previous version and the new standard are:

  • Stricter Sit-to-Stand desk requirements
  • Revised ergonomics requirements
  • Tests revised and updated to meet current design requirements
  • Standards for 4442 desks and 4443 workstations are now merged into a single Standard 4442

Suppliers are reminded that they should now update their testing and certification requirements to ensure they meet the general, mechanical and dimensional requirements in the new standard. This will include updating the testing methods to meet to latest standard’s requirements.
